Doug's story
Doug O'Dowd has spent his career at the finance table where big decisions get made. He began at Deloitte, then moved into finance leadership: CFO of a pharmaceutical manufacturer that grew from $12M to $32M in revenue, CFO of a national franchisor, VP and Controller of a public internet-marketing company, and CFO of a retail marketing firm with more than 2,000 people across Latin America. Along the way he led due diligence and negotiations for acquisitions, negotiated five bank refinancings, converted an accounting system to SAP in seven months and handled SEC reporting. The Tampa Bay Business Journal recognized his work as CFO of the Year in 2016, 2017 and 2019. [confirm wording]
In 2025 Doug became the owner of Tax & Accounting By The Bay, which has served the Tampa Bay region for 27 years. He brings corporate-level discipline to a client-friendly practice: plain English, quick answers and no surprises.
He serves on the Historic Old Northeast Neighborhood Association board and the Sunken Gardens Forever Foundation. Outside the office he enjoys travel, good wine and new experiences.
